hey... about the slipping... did anyone try duct tape? it seems to work on everything else.. so it would prabably keep it from sticking.

well it would look funny for you... but if noone else sees I dont see the problem, it would hurt even more when you take it off your leg!

This is true. An added penance, I suppose.

I can't offer much of value here, since I've never worn a cilice. And If I do, I will likely not wear it in a public place...

I find this a helpful penance during the day, if unwanted thoughts/temptations assail my mind:
Wear a sturdy elastic band around your wrist, and give it a good hard ping. It hurts, yes, but it doesn't damage, and it is a useful way of centering the thoughts back on God and snapping you out of whatever it is you are struggling with.
