Welcome exoriente into the community of penance. I agree that anything which forces us to obey the rule about custody of the eyes, keeping eyes down to the ground and head bowed whenever possible, is really important. I would welcome anyone's experience of how to do this.

I have been told in confession that I need to be more alert to the dangers of not being in a state of grace and not automatically feeling comfortable with simply noting a sin a leaving it to the next regular confession. I think anyone who is in a reasonable state of physical and mental health has the right to seek God's guidance and His alone in this matter.
