mortal sins

Hiya, The forum's been a bit quiet recently - but I thought I'd throw out a line as I've been wondering about this for quite a while. I've been trying to find a definitive list of the most common mortal sins - i.e. the sins I need to confess before taking communion. I've looked around the internet ...

Re: Helpful / Favourite Books

Hi -

a belated reply to Dark Knight's post - I've been reading the 2nd half of that book recently, and really enjoying it. If anything I prefer it to his first book.

Re: Favourite Prayers?

Hi all,

Have been using a couple of favourite pages for a while now, so thought I'd pass them on:

(I particularly recommend the Rutter's 1875 stations)

Re: Favourite Spiritual Movies

WINDHOVER - thanks for some great ideas! I'm going to order the Padre Pio movie at some point... ROBERT - I saw a Pope John Paul II movie about his life up to the point of becoming Pope. I think there's a sequel - is that the one you're talking about? Though I think there's another movie about him,...

Re: Helpful / Favourite Books

Hi Windhover,

I'd missed your post - but was interested to read about Brideshead Revisited. I love that book - having read it, watched it and listened to two or three adaptations.

What do you think the Marchmains Catholicism?

Re: Favourite Spiritual Movies

I'd be interested on hearing peoples' opinions of the Passion of the Christ? It had a huge impact on me when I saw it. I know my priest felt it was very weak on the resurrection. Also I noticed the scourging took a big part in the movie.

Re: Favourite Prayers?

If anyone's interested, I've found a prayer website I really like: universalis.com - it automatically generates the Liturgy of the Hours for each day.

Re: Favourite Spiritual Movies

I really like Song of Berndadette and Mother Teresa of Calcutta. I also like a Polish film called Faustina - really amazing. The sound track is great as well, I've tried to find it online but can't.

Re: Helpful / Favourite Books

Thanks DarkKnight and zarephath. How about Theology and Sanity by FJ Sheed? I've just started reading it again. There's a quote below. A "If we saw a coat hanging on a wall and did not realize that it was held there by a hook, we should not be living in the real world at all, but in some fanta...

Re: Dealing with resentment

Hi Seth - if they have wronged me then I can realise that perhaps they were spiritually sick, like myself. I ask God to help me show them the same tolerance, pity and patience that I would cheerfully grant a sick friend. When a person offends I can say to myself "This is a sick person. How can ...
